The Names Are The Same...Everything Else Has Been Changed to Protect The Weak of Heart...

SUBMISSION GUIDELINES

DejaView is always looking for new writers who want to write original super-heroic and heroic fiction in the extant DejaView-niverse. The only thing that makes DejaView stories fanfic is its use of names from the history of Marvel Comics; other than that, you can write any sort of action-based story you wish, limited only by your imagination.

It is strongly suggested that you read at least the set of Annuals that encompass ‘The Big Bang’ to get a sense of the world and the major characters in the DVU, and to peruse The DVU Handbook that we’re presently putting together. We emphasize one-shots and miniseries over ongoing series, because a one-to-four issue commitment is simply easier for top notch writers who have other things in the works. The original concept was that each ‘issue’ on DejaView represents a fictional issue of a comic book from a strange parallel version of the Marvel Universe--thus it is acceptable for stories to begin mid-stream, for them to presume a certain level of knowledge in the reader, et al, as long as any major complications you put into play are resolved by you.

To submit, you must join the DejaView mailing list at Yahoo Groups (groups.yahoo.com). This will also allow you to ask questions directly to the writers who created the character(s) you might wish to write about.

There are three ways to contribute to the DejaView site.

1) You may write something featuring an already extant character, such as The Red Skull or Thunderstrike. As long as you don’t radically change the character or make him unusable for others, all DVU characters are open.

2) You may write an issue of our only ongoing title, DEJA VIEW TEAM UP. This book, not surprisingly, consists of team ups between two extant characters.

3) You may choose to request a name from the DVU Master Character List, and create a story featuring a character you create with that name.

Please note that if you’re unfamiliar to us, or if we’re unsure of your writing, we will require you to write a ‘pilot’ issue of DEJA VIEW TEAM UP before you can do the other two concepts. That way you can get a feel for the Universe, and for whether you’d mesh with the other writers. If you don’t like the fit, you can walk away, no questions asked.
